Our family tries to live as chemically free as possible. It is super easy to do and even cheaper than you would realize. I make most things that we use, even our detergent. It takes only minutes to make and the best part is, it is completely free of harsh chemicals and it is organic. See how we make it here! This recipe will give you one gallon of detergent, or 64 loads. Use 1/4 cup of detergent per load.
What you need:

1 c. Dr. Bronner's Pure Castile Soap (I used tea tree)
1c. baking soda
2c. water
1/3 c. salt

Be sure you have a 1 gallon container to add all of the ingredients to. Also, grab a pot to heat the water in. Now, it is time to make the detergent! Need to get some Dr. Bronner's? Grab it here!
Heat your water and add the salt and baking soda. Let it dissolve. When it is complete, pour into the one gallon jug. Then. add your castile soap. Finish the detergent by adding enough water to make a complete gallon.
This is a super simple recipe that lasts a family of five for a few weeks. Since Dr. Bronner's is fair trade and organic, everything in your detergent is completely natural. The detergent will not make suds, but it will get your clothes completely clean!

Detergents should be decided with great care because they can damage the cloth also. And making a homemade detergent is a very unique and great idea. But while making it you should be extra cautious because dealing with the chemicals is dangerous indeed.
