This May, Pittsburgh is going to be lighting up in a unique way! The Lantern Fest
is a unique event in which thousands of Chinese Lanterns will launch from Lernerville Speedway, near the city of Pittsburgh. Last year, this one of a kind event, drew a crowd of 8,000 attendees.
Gates open at 4pm on May 14, 2016. Families can roast marshmallows, decorate their lanterns, and enjoy entertainment, including: a stage show, face painters, princesses, inflatables, and live music. When the sun goes down, participants will release their lanterns into the sky.
A portion of event proceeds will be donated to Angels of America’s Fallen. This non-profit organization provides funds and supplies for mentoring children of fallen police, military and other first responders.
To attend, you must have a Latern Pass which you can get here
! Each pass comes with a lantern, marker, s’mores kit, and lighter. Also, be sure to check out the Lantern Fest on Facebook here
